Welcome to Kindergarten B!

Mrs. Lisa Broad, Kindergarten B

Welcome to our class page for kindergarten B. I am so excited to be working with your children this year. Together we will explore new things, learn new things and make new friends. The mission statement of our Academy reminds us “to teach as Jesus did” that will be our focus this year to be ‘Jesus like’ to everyone we meet, Religion is not just another subject for me, it is a way of life. I am honored to work in a Catholic School. I believe in Catholic education, our two children currently attend St. Joseph’s in Astoria and my husband and I a are active members of the Home Academy Association.
I look forward to getting to know each other.

Welcome to October!
We are very busy talking about fall and what happens during the fall. This connects to our unit on living and non-living things, where we have been talking about plants.
In Religion this week we are asking the Essential Question – How do we get along with new friends? We are talking about sharing, showing kindness and how to be a good friend.
Our Word List is growing; we have many – ag words
Such as: Tag, Bag, Lag, Wag, ZigZag
Our Word Wall is growing……that means we know more sight words
This week we will begin the letter “D”. Today we got excited when we brainstormed words that start with “D”. Our craft project for “D” looks really cute be sure to ask about it…
Math continues to be recognizing numbers from 1 to 5
Our physical education this week is Monday, wear your sneakers!
Our art class is on Wednesday
Our music class is on Monday
Our library day is Wednesday, we will be coming home with a library book to read as long as your child returns the book form last week. Please keep these books in good condition. This is a good opportunity to explain about when you “borrow” something from someone how you have to care for it.
We welcome your participation when we are at library; the children love to have you volunteer to read a story to the class.
There was a change to our school calendar; every first Friday will be a half day with an 11:30 dismissal from school. As Mrs. Cooke explained this is so that our school calendar reflects the schools within the Diocese. Halloween will be a full day of school
