I am so excited to join the Sacred Heart Catholic Academy family as the new Assistant Principal! My primary role will be to work with teachers on curriculum and instructional planning. However, I will be visiting classrooms frequently and, as such, getting to know each of the children here at Sacred Heart.
Prior to this new leadership role, I worked as a sixth grade math and science teacher just down the road at Divine Wisdom Catholic Academy in Douglaston for seven years. In this time, I was the fifth and sixth grade team leader and worked collaboratively with my colleagues on a daily basis. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I was the Student Council moderator for three years and I also was the moderator of the Junior Aquinas program for four years. I have also worked as an AIS reading and math teacher for sixth through eighth grade students and a co-teacher in both fifth and eighth grade in Lawrence Middle School and Roslyn Middle School.
In terms of education, I graduated with my B.A. in Elementary/Special Education from Providence College in 2006. I then received my M.S. in Literacy (Birth-Grade 12) from Adelphi University in 2010. I am currently enrolled at Fordham University where I will receive a second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership this coming May.
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my two dogs, Powder and Derby. I love going to the beach and reading during the summer months and skiing during the winter months. I am also a huge Mets and Giants fan!
I am looking forward to embarking on this new journey and getting to know all of the families at Sacred Heart Catholic Academy!
