Principal Cooke’s Weekly Letter

December 13, 2017
Dear families,
Welcome to the second Sunday of Advent! This week we light our second candle to represent the HOPE of Christ that comes to our world. When we speak of that HOPE we remember the faithfulness of God who keeps His promises to His people. This week we are called to remember that the coming of Jesus into our world is “…the fulfillment of the saving plan of God”.
I want to give you an update on Mr. Shea. As you know his surgery went very well and he is home receiving physical therapy. In his absence we have hired a leave replacement for him, Mr. Juan Perez. Mr. Perez was introduced to the children on Tuesday. We thank Mr. Perez for his help as we pray for the health of Mr. Shea. We will have a dress down n Friday to give Mr. Shea a little something to thank him for all that he has done and will do for our school and the children.
The student council will hold a bake sale Thursday. The proceeds of the bake sale will buy hats and socks for day laborers. There is a Franciscan Brother who works with these laborers and he contacted Sr. Kathleen asking for any help in getting these men hats and socks. Please help to support this very worthwhile cause.
Last night was the annual Mother’s Club Christmas Dinner. It was very well attended! I want to thank all the families who work so hard to support our school. I have said this many times, we could not be who we are without YOUR help! It was so nice to see some of our “alumni” moms at the dinner, and of course no event would be complete without Mr. Farrell in attendance.
This Thursday and Friday we will be hosting our annual Christmas Boutique. This is a great opportunity for your child to shop for gifts for family members. Thank you to the families who worked so hard to set up that magical “store” for your children.
Next week we are going to be very busy……we have our Band Concert on December 20th at 7PM in the Gym and on Thursday we have our 3rd grade Christmas Show at 7PM in the gym. Please try to come by and share some Christmas cheer.
Have a peaceful week, take some time to breathe during these very hectic times. The cards, will get out, the presents will get wrapped the house does not have to be that clean! Take time to realize the reason for the season…..
